In 1919, Cristóbal Balenciaga opened the first Balenciaga boutique in his hometown of Spain. As a master tailor, he quickly gained recognition in the fashion industry, bringing revolutionary avant-garde designs to women's fashion. In 2001, under the creative direction of Nicolas Ghesquière, the iconic motorcycle bag was introduced. Balenciaga's legacy as a fashion innovator continues to be carried on by the current creative director, Demna Gvasalia.
